Bank of Uganda to make rate decisions quarterly

Central bank lowers frequency of policy meetings from six times a year

The Bank of Uganda announced on Monday (January 6) that it would lower the frequency of its monetary policy meetings to four times a year. The meetings previously took place once every two months.

This year the central bank will set rates in February, May, August and November.

In a statement, the Bank of Uganda said the change would enable the monetary policy committee to conduct more comprehensive economic analysis and use additional data to enhance make more accurate forecasts.
