Villeroy de Galhau says central banks should advocate for structural policies

The world has entered a new environment of “great volatility” which should prompt central banks to re-think their objectives and roles, François Villeroy de Galhau said on October 30.

Speaking at an event organised by the London School of Economics, the governor said that while the ECB will not abandon its 2% inflation target in its ongoing strategy review, there are benefits to having control bands which allow for small changes in inflation.
