Philippines governor announces recovery from cancer
Espenilla reveals cancer treatment, and says recent policy reforms will not fuel rising inflation
The governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines (BSP) Nestor Espenilla has revealed he was diagnosed with tongue cancer in November last year but has now recovered following surgery.
Espenilla, who has been in office for just over seven months, also sought to calm fears that changes to the central bank’s policy framework would further fuel the country’s rising inflation rate.
