TCH launches real-time payment platform in US

Firm launches US’s first real-time payment system, cutting transaction times from days to seconds

For decades, US consumers wanting to pay a gas bill have had to wait days for their payment to clear. Today (November 15), this process has been shortened to mere seconds.

In conjunction with UK-based payment infrastructure provider Vocalink, The Clearing House has launched its real-time payment solution (RTP) – the first new core payment system to be issued in the US in over 40 years.

“RTP has the potential to revolutionise the way payments are made in the US,” TCH’s chief executive Jim
