Brief History

The bank was created by Law No 632, enacted on July 20, 1928, during the government of President Hernando Siles. The institution was initially named Banco Central de la Nación Boliviana (Central Bank of the Bolivian Nation). However, through an amendment to the Banking Law that took place on April 20, 1929, the bank’s name was finalised.
