Muhammad bin Ibrahim cites benefits from first socially responsible investment sukuk

Islamic finance is "uniquely positioned" to champion the cause of responsible, inclusive and sustainable finance, Bank Negara Malaysia governor Muhammad bin Ibrahim said today (May 11).

He cited the first socially responsible investment sukuk, issued last year, as an example of "impact investing that generates positive social outcomes". The returns from the sukuk are dependent on the performance of the selected schools, which are supported by proceeds from the investments, he explained.
