Weidmann leads support for capital markets union
Iosco secretary-general urges Europe to move quickly
Jens Weidmann highlighted the "complementarity" of bank-based and market-based finance today (June 25), as the Deutsche Bundesbank president made the case for a European capital markets union.
European policy-makers are working to create a more diversified financial system, which remains reliant on bank-based finance, in contrast to the US, where market-based finance has flourished.
