Hungarian governor slams government’s economic policies
András Simor, governor of the National Bank of Hungary (NBH), today (December 7) criticised the Hungarian government for failing to achieve fiscal discipline, damaging bank lending and impinging on the central bank's monetary policy credibility.
Speaking at the NBH's end-of-year conference, Simor said Hungary was in the grip of a "complex crisis of confidence", partly dependent on circumstances outside policy-makers' control, such as the weak global environment. However, he said the government
