Mexican deputy targets productivity obstacles
Mexico's social wellbeing depends on the removal of the structural obstacles to the country's low productivity, according to the Bank of Mexico's deputy governor, Manuel Sánchez.
Speaking at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas on November 1, the deputy governor said "stagnant" productivity has fuelled Mexico's low GDP per capita. In the period of 1980–2005, the agricultural sector experienced an increase in productivity – chiefly because of labour emigration – while manufacturing and services
