Governor of Central Bank of Nicaragua steps down
Antenor Rosales has resigned as governor of the Central Bank of Nicaragua, amid speculation over a falling out with president Daniel Ortega.
Rosales became governor in January 2007, serving a five-year term. His appointment would have been renewed last month. However, it is widely thought that a disagreement over Ortega's plans to give 1% of the central bank's reserves to the Bank of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas, caused the governor's resignation.
