Economy on road to recovery: Sri Lanka’s Ranasinghe

KD Ranasinghe, the chief economist and director of economic research at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, on Wednesday said Sri Lanka's economic recovery continued to gain momentum throughout 2010.

At a public lecture on the state of the economy, Ranasinghe said all key sectors of the economy raised output in 2010 with gross domestic product growth of 8% for the year, up from 3.5% in 2009.

Ranasinghe said the unemployment rate had also declined, from 5.8% in 2009, to 4.9% in 2010, its lowest level
