Lithuania's parliament, the Seimas, has chosen Vitas Vasiliauskas as the chairman of the board of the Bank of Lithuania.

Vasiliauskas is a lawyer, most recently working at the firm LAWIN. He has held senior posts in government, including serving as the deputy minister in the finance ministry, responsible for tax legislation, tax administration and customs between 2001 and 2004. He also lectures at the law faculty of Vilnius University.

The parliament approved the appointment by 89 to 16, with
