Trichet predicts positive momentum to carry through to 2011

Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank, on Thursday said he expected the positive momentum in economic activity experienced in the euro area during 2010 to continue.

At a press conference in Frankfurt, Trichet said: "Following the 0.3% quarter-on-quarter increase in euro area real gross domestic product in the third quarter of 2010, recent statistical releases and survey-based evidence confirm that the positive underlying momentum of economic activity in the euro area
