Shirakawa named Asian Consultative Council chair
Masaaki Shirakawa, the governor of the Bank of Japan, was on Monday appointed the chair of the Bank for International Settlements' (BIS) Asian Consultative Council.
Shirakawa will take over from Zeti Akhtar Aziz, the governor of the Bank Negara Malaysia, in October, for a two-year term. Zeti has chaired the council from October 2008, and on Monday, the BIS board and members of the Asian Consultative Council expressed their thanks for her leadership.
