Solomon Islands needs new sources of growth: Rarawa

Finding new sources of growth to replace logging is crucial for the Solomon Islands, said Denton Rarawa, the governor of the country's central bank.

Rarawa said developments in the mobile-phone market could present a range of opportunities for local businesses. He also said that a warning about how far the country still had to go was issued by the World Bank when they ranked Solomon Islands 104th in their ‘ease of doing business' ranking.

He made the comments on 17 September.
