Yuen named new HKMA deputy

Arthur Yuen, the executive director of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) external department, will be promoted to the role of deputy chief executive for financial stability in January 2010.

The HKMA said on Friday that Yuen would replace Y.K. Choi, who is retiring.

Yuen has been at the HKMA for the past 13 years, joining as a division head in 1996 and becoming an executive director in 2004. Previously, he worked for the Securities and Futures Committee, the market regulator, and the Hong
