Russia’s regional banks don’t utilise local info

Local banks do not benefit from an advantage in monitoring ability and in information in Russia, a new paper from the Bank of Finland posits.

The analysis shows that there is no significant impact on syndicated loan spreads for local bank participation in a syndicated loan, nor any significant influence of the presence of domestic-owned banks or foreign-owned banks on the spreads.
