Uncertainty clouds possible Muto appointment
Nobutaka Machimura, the chief cabinet secretary, said that reports stating that the government was to nominate Muto as soon as this week were "absolutely not true."
The Yomiuri Shimbun, a newspaper, said on Saturday 9 February that the Liberal Democratic Party was planning to nominate Muto, the favourite to succeed Fukui
