In testimony during his confirmation hearing, Randall Kroszner, a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, said the central bank has achieved much success in reducing and stabilising inflation and inflation expectations over the quarter of a century.
"This success has helped to contribute to a tendency for the fluctuations in employment and output to be lower than in the past and a reduction in the frequency and severity of recessions," Kroszner told the US Senate's Committee on
