State Bank of Pakistan governor retires

The governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Dr Ishrat Husain, retired on Thursday 1 December. Tawfiq A. Husain was appointed as acting governor with effect from Friday and till the appointment of a regular governor.

Mr. Tawfiq was appointed as deputy governor of the SBP for a three-year term with effect from 20th September 2001. He was re-appointed as SBP deputy governor for a further period of two years with effect from 20th September, 2004 after completion of his first three-year term.
