Euro group set to nominate Buba's Stark to ECB

Eurozone finance ministers are set to nominate Bundesbank vice-president Juergen Stark next week for the European Central Bank executive board post, an EU official told reporters Thursday 9 February.

The position will fall vacant when Otmar Issing retires on 31 May, officials were quoted as saying Thursday.

The euro group will meet on Monday evening ahead of a gathering of all 25 EU finance ministers the next day.
