Oil set to be main topic for G7 meeting

Japan's finance minister said Friday's G7 meeting of top finance ministers and central bankers would discuss soaring oil prices as the main topic and talks on China's currency reform may be low-keyed for now.

Without elaborating on the specifics, Sadakazu Tanigaki was quoted as saying that G7 finance ministers and central bank chiefs would do their utmost within their remits to deal with the rise in oil prices that has threatened to dent global growth and trigger inflation.
