Kenya names new head of central bank

Economics professor and think-tank director Njuguna Ndung'u was named as the new head of the Central Bank of Kenya on Thursday 1 March to replace the former governor who was suspended.

"His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki has appointed Professor Njuguna S. Ndung'u to be the Governor of Central Bank of Kenya for a period of four years, with effect from March 4, 2007," a Finance Ministry statement said.
