ECB's Issing says inflation hazardous

European Central Bank chief economist Otmar Issing wrote in the Financial Times on Thursday that low interest rates risk pushing up inflation, which could damage price and economic stability.

"With consumer price inflation well anchored, overly accommodative monetary policies may lead to asset price inflation," he wrote. "Over longer horizons, this may prove hazardous to price and macroeconomic stability."

Issing told the FT the decision to raise the ECB's benchmark interest rate to 2.25 percent
