Italian Senate approves central bank reforms

The Italian Senate the gave final approval on Friday 23 December to a bill that will reform the Bank of Italy.

The government gained two confidence votes on controversial amendments of the bill, which aimed at better protecting savers' interests, earlier Friday before the Senate approved the reform.

The reform bill brought forward measures to punish those found guilty of defrauding savers, and to improve the internal and external regulation of Italian companies.
