Interview with Malta's Bonello

In a recent interview, the governor of Malta's central bank, Michael Bonello, sought to assuage fears that the changeover to the euro in 2008 would lead to price rises.

"According to the Eurobarometer poll taken in September 2006, some 70% of Maltese respondents said they feared the euro would give rise to inflation and over 80% were afraid of abuses and cheating on prices," the governor noted.
