Bank of Italy's Draghi to start mid-Jan

The Bank of Italy said on Wednesday 4 January that its newly appointed governor Mario Draghi is expected to take up his job in mid-January.

According to the daily Il Sole 24 Ore Draghi could start on Jan 17.

Draghi's priority will be to introduce reforms at the central bank, whose prestige was tainted by domestic and international criticism made towards the previous governor Antonio Fazio, the daily said.
