Fukui positive on economy, inflation

In a statement before a parliamentary committee on August 2, the governor of the Bank of Japan, Toshihiko Fukui, spoke of the country's improving economic situation and how the central bank's policies were adapting.

Fukui said that Japan's economy continues to recover, noting that "industrial production is on a gradual uptrend ... household income has been rising ... private consumption has been steady ... growth in exports is expected to accelerate gradually."

He also pointed to hopeful signs on
