Gono blames business for "traumatic" conditions

Gideon Gono, the governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, hit back at claims that the publication of the central bank's mid-year report was delayed because of the woeful state of the country's economy.

Gono said he had news for those "who were indulging in idle speculation" regarding the report's delay. The governor said that the central bank understood that the country is in "a severe and unusually long winter" and that its job was to "chart as clear course as possible through the darkness".
