Belize’s central bank must improve cyber regulation – IMF staff

International Monetary Fund staff have advised the Central Bank of Belize to improve its cyber security regulation and establish a new IT supervision team.

An IMF staff report said the central bank’s supervisory expectations on cyber security needed to be “formalised into regulation to ensure enforceability”.

It also called on the central bank to make major improvements to its resilience plan, especially given the danger of hurricanes in the Caribbean region. Belize is a former British colony
