Bank of Russia centre records over 20 ‘major’ attacks on payment systems
Attackers attempted to steal 2.87 billion rubles from Russian banks, cyber-security report reveals
More than 20 "major" cyber-attacks on Russian banks' payment systems were recorded by FinCERT, a Bank of Russia centre, in its first year of operation.
In a report published on July 19, it reveals attackers attempted to steal a total of 2.87 billion rubles ($44.5 million) from the systems between June 2015 and May 2016.
The centre notes it has, working alongside banks and law enforcement agencies, prevented the theft of "over 1.5 billion rubles".
The remainder was, howeover, stolen. It notes
