ECB’s de Guindos tests positive for Covid-19

Vice-president has “very mild” symptoms and has not been in “close contact” with Christine Lagarde

The vice-president of the European Central Bank, Luis de Guindos, has tested positive for Covid-19, the central bank said on December 12.

De Guindos, 61, has been double vaccinated and is experiencing only “very mild” symptoms of the virus after testing positive on December 11, the ECB’s statement said.

It added he has not been in close contact with ECB president Christine Lagarde, and has alerted those with whom he has recently been in contact.

“He will work from home until further notice
