BIS board reappoints Carstens as general manager

Luiz Pereira da Silva gets new term as deputy, and Stefan Ingves becomes vice-chair

The board of the Bank for International Settlements has reappointed Agustín Carstens as general manager, giving him over three more years as head of the institution.

Carstens, who joined the BIS in December 2017, will now serve until the end of June 2025.

The board also reappointed Luiz Awazu Pereira da Silva, the deputy general manager, until the end of August 2023. Both he and Carstens will now serve until they hit the mandatory retirement age for BIS staff, 67.
