Norges Bank deputy governor resigns over security clearance

Deputy governor in charge of world’s largest SWF denied clearance because of wife’s residence in China

One of Norway’s two deputy central bank governors has resigned, after his security clearance was not renewed because of his marriage to a Chinese resident.

In a statement published by Norges Bank, Jon Nicolaisen said his security clearance had not been renewed by the Norwegian Civil Security Clearance Authority.

He said his clearance was denied on the grounds that his wife is a Chinese citizen and currently resides in China, where he supports her financially.
