New Bank of Canada governor selected
Tiff Macklem, senior deputy governor under Mark Carney, will replace Poloz on June 2
Tiff Macklem has been named the next governor of the Bank of Canada, a vacancy many had expected to be filled by current senior deputy governor Carolyn Wilkins.
Macklem, who served as senior deputy governor of the central bank from 2010 to 2014 under Mark Carney, will take over from Stephen Poloz on June 2.
Joining the central bank at an extraordinary time, Macklem will need to get up to speed with the unprecedented measures it has implemented in recent weeks. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
