Kenyan president reappoints Njoroge as governor
Governor has been a fierce defender of Central Bank of Kenya’s independence
Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta reappointed central bank governor Patrick Njoroge for a second four-year term today (June 6).
Kenyatta also reappointed Sheila M’bijjewe as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, according to local media reports.
Ever since he became CBK governor in June 2015, Njoroge has strongly defended the independence of the central bank.
In May 2018, he opposed the government’s plans to transfer some central bank competences to the new Financial Markets Conduct
