Long-serving South African deputy governor resigns
Francois Groepe has been in post since 2004 and ran national payment system
The deputy governor in charge of payments at the South African Reserve Bank has resigned from the central bank to “pursue outside opportunities”.
In a statement published by the Sarb on January 2, Francois Groepe announced he would be leaving the institution on January 31.
“The governor has been in communication with the president, the minister of finance and the board of the Sarb in this regard. The process of appointing Mr Groepe’s successor is currently underway,” the central bank said.
