People: Carney gets new senior adviser
Bank of England creates new senior adviser role; IMF appoints chief information officer; and more
UK: Senior merchant banking executive Huw van Steenis has been appointed as senior adviser to Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England.
Van Steenis will advise Carney on “the long-term future of the financial system”, the BoE said. The position, created for van Steenis, will see him work towards improving the central bank’s understanding of a “number of major issues”.
These include the possible benefits of fintech for businesses and households, and emerging markets’ impact on cross-border
