People: Barclays economist returns to BoE; Cleveland steps up search for Pianalto replacement
Bank of England: Simon Hayes, currently chief UK economist at Barclays Bank, is to return to the Bank of England to succeed Robert Woods in charge of preparing economic forecasts for the monetary policy committee (MPC).
Hayes previously spent eight years at the BoE "in a variety of positions", according to a statement from the bank. He will take up his new role as head of conjunctural assessment and projections division, reporting to chief economist Spencer Dale, when Woods returns to HM
