Report highlights cyber vulnerabilities in securities market

Structure of the market and number of participants makes sector increasingly difficult to safeguard

The securities market is particularly vulnerable to cyber attack, according to a new report published by Swift and BAE Systems.

According to the new research, published today (November 19), while cyber threats to banking and payments are “well documented”, risks in the securities market are less understood.

Swift and BAE say the heightened risk for the sector is down to the large number of participants and infrastructures, as well as the complex interactions within the system.
