No funds taken in cyber breach, Bank of Mexico says

Central bank reveals three participants of interbank payment network experienced “incidents” within internal systems

The Bank of Mexico has warned banks connected to the Interbank Electronic Payment System (Spei) of a cyber breach, though it says no funds appear to have been stolen.

“Problems were detected in three institutions that used an application provided by an external provider that allows the connection of some participants to the Spei,” the central bank said, stressing its own system remained secure. It urged affected banks to implement “additional control measures”.
