BoE unveils King Charles III note design
New print will enter circulation by mid-2024
The Bank of England on December 20 unveiled the new King Charles III design for notes. The new notes bearing his portrait will enter circulation in mid-2024.
The king will replace his late mother’s image on the obverse of the note and inside the security window. Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8.
The first BoE note to feature the late queen’s portrait was the £1 note issued in 1960, after her coronation in 1953. Charles’s coronation will take place on May 6, 2023.
