UK banking industry pledges to support public access to cash

Trade body will work with BoE and Treasury to ensure access to cash

UK banks have pledged to protect consumer access to cash following concerns that the country is transitioning to a cashless society.

Trade body UK Finance announced it is working with the Joint Authorities Cash Strategy Group, which was established by the Treasury and includes the Bank of England, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Payment Systems Regulator.

The PSR said earlier this year that access to cash was “one of our key areas of focus”, and similar sentiments have been expressed
