Brief History

The Bank of Ghana Ordinance (N°. 34) of 1957 established the Bank of Ghana. The Bank currently operates under the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), as amended by the Bank of Ghana Act, 2016 (Act 918), with the primary objective of maintaining stability in the general level of prices, of ensuring effective and efficient operations of the Banking & Credit Systems and of supporting general economic growth.
