Philadelphia Fed president warns of ‘mismatch’ between education and business
Patrick Harker says this probably contributed to slow recovery following crisis
There appears to be a "mismatch" between the education offered to students in the United States and the skills and knowledge demanded by businesses, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia president said on March 22.
Patrick Harker cited anecdotal evidence supporting this idea. "I have heard employers complain about vacancies they cannot fill because of the lack of a qualified applicant pool," he told an audience in New York.
