Zeti considers central bank role in future Asian challenges
Malaysian governor encourages Asian policy-makers to look to future challenges
Asian policy-makers should turn their attention to future challenges, Zeti Akhtar Aziz said on February 29, warning there has been "too much focus on the present". To the extent central banks help meet them; there must be "careful boundary management", the Malaysian governor said.
Zeti said one challenge would be to determine whether the "prevailing growth model" in the region is sustainable. She pointed to the "erosion" of its democratic advantage, rising levels of debt, higher costs of living
