Linde says Bank of Spain retains ‘important role’ in SSM

ECB is now responsible for the supervision of the largest eurozone banks

Bank of Spain govenror Luis Linde today denied the advent of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) spells the end for national central bank's supervisory functions.

Speaking yesterday at the Congress of Deputies, Linde explained that supervisory decisions are now in the hands of the European Central Bank (ECB), but that "does not mean that the Bank of Spain, as other national supervisors, does not get important roles in the mechanism itself".
