Yellen ‘greatly’ concerned by inequality in US
Fed chair explores four ‘building blocks’ of economic opportunity
Widening inequality in the US "greatly" concerns Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, who took the unorthodox step of addressing the subject in a speech today.
Speaking at a conference at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Yellen observed that, according to some estimates, "income and wealth inequality are near their highest levels in the past hundred years".
In her speech Yellen addressed the concept of economic opportunity, and the four "building blocks" of resources available for children
