Zambia has thrived despite crisis: Fundanga

Despite global economic crisis, Zambia's economy is expected to grow by 6.3% in 2009, up from 6% in 2008, said Caleb Fundanga, the governor of the country's central bank.

Fundaga said this was mainly due to robust growth in mining, agriculture and construction sectors. He said mining was expected to post growth of 13% as a result of improved copper prices and investments in operations.

He made the comments on 8 December.
