Australia benefiting from Asian strength: Battellino

The economies of the North Atlantic were "lagging behind" those in other parts of the world because that was where the financial crisis had originated, said Ric Battellino, the deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). In a speech to a housing conference in Melbourne in late November, he said the speedy resurgence of Asian economies was good news for Australia, owing to the close trade ties between them.
